Nov 1960 - Feb 1961 Worked on the erection of Turbine and
Generator Unit-I at Shadiwal Hydel Project, Shadiwal Gujrat as Apprentice Engineer.
01.03.61 -17.10.61 Worked on Electrical System Renovation of
Lahore City and designing of Electrical routes of Tubewell electrification of SCRAP No. 1
as Junior Engineer with M/S. Minor & Minor International Inc. WAPDA's Electrical
consultants.
10.10.61 -31.10.68 Worked as Sub Divisional Officer Incharge of
Central Stores and Workshop WASID WAPDA supervised the maintenance I repair and up-keep of
US AID equipment like vehicles, diesel engines, turbine pumps etc. Stores comprising of
spare parts of various equipment being used for drilling purposes in the field, M.S.
sheets of various sizes for pipe rolling, pipes of sizes for boring purposes, electrical
motors, starters, insulators, transformers and turbine pumps for Mona Project.
Transportation, receipt, inspection, reporting of its damages, measuring proper stacking
and accountability of materials. Also to foresee the fields requirements and to arrange
before hand.

WAPDA and FIAT Italy for supplying Erection and Commissioning of 7.1 MW T.G.7 Gas Turbine

transportation from Karachi to Quetta for this over Dimension consignment, Have been
giving instructions in line with the Contract Agreement to field staff for its erection

Operation and maintenance of about 60 sub stations with voltage of 7.2 KV/380 V,
transmission lines of 23 KV. 3 Nos. Diesel Generation stations ranging with total capacity
of 20.6 MW. Units ranging from 1.5 MW to 0.76 MW.
Prepared the International Tender Documents for major overhauling
and purchase of spare parts. After award of work to successful bidder
M/S. Carradine of London, supervised the overhauling works. Tested and
commissioned the units according to the manufacturer's laid down procedures.

Visited Bulgaria for about one week (from 23.7.89 to 31.7.89) to
get acquaintance with the exploitation and use of Lignite Coal for Bulgarian Power
Stations, Visit was arranged by M/S. Techno Import of Bulgaria.
Visited Germany on study tour for about two weeks (from 8.9.90
to 22.9.90) along with participants of 174h Senior Management Course of WAPDA staff
College, Lahore. Visit was arranged by GTZ of Germany.

- Execution of Contact agreement between M/S DongFang of China and WAPDA manufacturing,
supplying, erecting, commissioning and testing of three Turbo Steam Units each of 50 MW at
T.P.S Lakhra. These units were based on "Fluidized Bed Combustion Technology"
introduced in Pakistan for the first time basedon poor quality coal like lignite having
very high sulphur contents.
- Supervision of Contractor's work and expediting the progress of these projects.

· Execution of Contract Agreement between
M/S T.P.E of Russia and WAPDA for Designing, manufacturing, supplying, erecting,
commissioning and testing of three Steam Turbo Units each of 210 MW (Unit No: 1,2 &
3).
· Execution of Contract Agreement between
CMEC China and WAPDA for Designing, manufacturing, supplying, erecting, commissioning and
testing of two Steam Turbo Units each of 210 MW (Unit No: 5 & 6).
· Execution of Contract Agreement between
M/S T.P.E of Russia and WAPDA for Designing, manufacturing, supplying, erecting,
commissioning and testing of one Steam Turbo Unit of .320 MW (Unit No: 4).
· Supervision of Contractor's work to
expedite the progress workers.
· Units No: 1,2,3,5 & 6 were lagging
behind the contractual schedule. Managed to remove technical and administrative
bottlenecks hindering smooth sailing of these projects of vital importance. Resultantly
these units were commissioned in September 1993, March 1994, January 1995, February 1995
and August 1995 adding 1050 MW generation to WAPDA's System in very short span of time.
· Visited China (from. 29.07.93 to
13.08.93) regarding project meeting with M/S CMEC for unit no 5 & 6th
· Visited China (from 27.03.95 to
06.04.95) in-connection with 4 coordination meeting with M/S CMEC for unit no 4.
· Operation and maintenance of Unit No:
1,2,3,5 & 6.
· Fuel Oil decanting, handling and storage
facilities were deficit causing lot of problems in timely decanting of railway oil trains.
There facilities were redesigned and modified upto the extent to decant four special
trains at a time carrying about 4800 M.T of Furnace oil. In addition facility for
decanting 200 road tankers per day was also developed.
- Prepared lists of 5 years spare parts in consultation with erectors and manufacturers of
these units.
- Developed training facilities for operation management staff and engineers.
8.11.95 - 28.9.99

- Operation and maintenance of all Thermal Power Stations in Pakistan.
- Arrangement of spare parts from different manufacturers and genuine suppliers after
calling for International Tenders, evaluating, placing purchase orders and ultimately
transporting to various sites of Power Stations.
- Arrangement of Furnace oil, gas, diesel oil and coal etc for these stations.
- Installing two Thermal Simulators one of 320 MW and other of 210 MW at TPS Muzaffargarh
with assistance of M/S CMEC China for imparting technical training to operators and
engineers. Preparing maintenance and overhauling schedules for various units keeping in
view minimum shut downs and maximum availability.
- Arranging economical loading and operation of the units.
- Dealing with site staff of 13 power stat ions, WAPD Aauthorities and Ministry of Water
and Power and other Ministries of Government of Pakistan regarding issues of operation,
maintenance of these stations including local and foreign exchange budget etc.
